Painting

Painting was my spring project. The Harley had a bunch of chips and the rear fender had a crack that was several inches long. You couldn’t see the missing pain and crack on the rear fender with the side bags I usually have on, but is was there.Here’s the fender before I pulled the tape off the plastic part.
Here’s the tank in primer before it dried to that dull primer look. This was the first coat. I don’t know what compelled me to pull the tape of the petcock just for this photo.

Here’s a good view of the color laid down before the clear top coat and buffing. I’m personally not into stripes or logo decals. I don’t think I’ll get into that type of art right now.

I know before the next painting I’m going to invest in a rotary table (Lazy Susan) so I won’t trip over the air line as often. There were a few moments where I thought I was going to fall onto the paint. I don’t mind walking around the tank; but like a dog distracted I tend to wind the hose around the table a few time before I realize that I’m tangled.

I also need to build a custom fixture for every tank. None of the mount points are the same from different manufacturers.
